E-mail can be sent and received in 2 different ways.
E-mail is short for electronic mail and is a method of transferring data or information via electronic communication systems through sending and receiving.  


1. An e-mail address created within your account can be configured to work with a 3rd party e-mail client such as Microsoft Outlook Express or Mozilla Thunderbird.
Once you have finished [[Creating a new e-mail account]], you can check it in a variety of ways:

    * Incoming mail (POP3): pop3.yourdomain.com
You can access your e-mail through our webmail system at https://bravenetmail.com. When prompted, just enter your e-mail address and the password associated with that address. If you forget your e-mail password, you can reset it in the [[e-mail tab]] of your Bravenet account.
    * Outgoing mail (SMTP): mail.yourdomain.com
    * User or Account Name: The mailbox email address you wish to use
    * Password: The password you set for the address

  1. Go to Tools / Accounts / Add > / Mail
The exact steps to set up your email client differ based on the client. In general you will need the following information. This assumes that you've created a Bravenet email address in the email tab of your account already. Below we have the recommended settings, we highly recommend you use SSL encryption, and the IMAP protocol, when available.
  2. Type in your Display Name and click 'Next >'
  3. Enter your e-mail address. e.g. / you@0youremail.com
  4. Enter your Incoming mail server. pop3.yourdomain.com
  5. Enter your Outgoing mail server. mail.yourdomain.com and click 'Next >'
  6. Type in your Account name. Your account name is your full e-mail address (you@0youremail.com).
  7. Enter the Password you have selected for the e-mail account if you want outlook to remember your password.
  8. Click 'Next >' and then click 'Finish >'
  9. Select your newly added account in the Mail tab and click 'Properties'.
  10. Choose the Servers tab, then check "My Server requires authentication".
  11. Select Settings. Check 'Log On Using' and enter your hosting email address and your POP3 password and click 'OK' and 'OK' again.

  8. Enter your Incoming User name. Your incoming user name is your full e-mail address (you@youremail.com).
  9. Type an Account name that will be used to identify this account or used the pre-filled information and click 'Next >' then click 'Finish'.
  10. Enter the account email address for User Name.




If you have issues in using the default port 25, please try port 587.

Email accounts have a default quota of 100 emails per hour, to prevent email accounts from being abused for unsolicited bulk email (spam), email mailing lists, and other such massive email usage that - if legitimate - should be performed through our Mailing List Service instead. Bravenet personal email accounts are intended only for personal email use. The 100/hour quota resets hourly, so someone could send 70 emails at once, wait an hour, and then send 70 more; but they could not send 70 emails and then immediately send another bulk mail to 70 other individuals, as that would be 140 within an hour. They would have to send less than 30, or wait an hour to send more.
