E-mail is short for electronic mail and is a method of transferring data or information via electronic communication systems through sending and receiving.
Once you have finished Creating a new e-mail account, you can check it in a variety of ways:
Webmail
You can access your e-mail through our webmail system at https://webmail.bravehost.com. When prompted, just enter your e-mail address and the password associated with that address. If you forget your e-mail password, you can reset it in the e-mail tab of your Bravenet account.
Instructional Videos
You can find some instructional videos on how to setup your Bravenet email account with a few email clients here:
Setting up Bravenet Email on:
3rd Party E-mail Clients
You can also use most third-party e-mail clients to send and receive mail. We've provided step-by-step instructions for a few common clients. For other e-mail clients, use the general information below, and refer to your e-mail client's documentation for information on how to enter this data.
- Apple Mail
- Microsoft Outlook 2007
- Microsoft Outlook 2013
- Outlook Express
- Pegasus Mail
- Thunderbird
- Windows Live Mail
- Configuring your iPhone with e-mail
- Android email
By default, as of March 26, 2014, new email accounts require SSL or TLS/STARTTLS to be enabled in your email client. Under the email tab of your Bravenet account, it will say by the newly created email address. This encrypts your communication with our servers (including the username and password). Attempting to login to your email account without SSL or TLS/STARTTLS, and non-SSL logins not enabled will result in an Authentication Failed message. Please note this does not affect Webmail.
If you wish to allow email clients that do not support encryption, you can enable non-SSL logins. Note that this sends your username and password unencrypted, and could lead to your email credentials being stolen.
After you do so, it will say which indicates that you can login to that email address without using SSL.
