Please be sure to ensure you know how to use your Bravenet email account in conjunction with your email client. How your email client handles configuration settings and general functionality may differ greatly from any other email client, and the best solution to any situation is to ensure you are as fully familiar with your own chosen email client as possible.
Incoming Mail Settings
IMAP
Alternative Configuration:
- IMAP Server: mail.bravehost.com
- IMAP Port: 993
- Connection Security: SSL
- Username: The email address you are checking, e.g. example@somesite.com
- Password: The password for this specific email account.
POP3 (Alternate, not recommended)
POP3 is an older method of checking mail. It should only be used if your e-mail client doesn't support IMAP, since POP3 doesn't support checking mail from multiple locations, and by default it doesn't store messages on the server.
To clarify: We do NOT recommend using POP3, and in fact recommend switching to use IMAP in every situation if at all possible.
Alternative Configuration (Recommended):
- POP3 Server: mail.bravehost.com
- POP3 Port: 110
- Connection Security: TLS/StartTLS
- Username: The email address you are checking, e.g. example@somesite.com
- Password: The password for this specific email account.

Outgoing Mail Servers
Outgoing mail uses SMTP. The information you need for that:

- SMTP server: mail.bravehost.com
- SMTP port: 465
- Connection Security: SSL
- Username: The email address you are checking, e.g. example@somesite.com
- Password: The password for this specific email account.
- This outgoing mail server does require authentication (this is an option in some email clients, which must be checked).
Email Filter Management
Email Filters can be managed by logging into webmail.bravehost.com, as well as software that supports managesieve.
Most email setups will not need this, but it is an optional possibility for you to use it, if you want to.
- ManageSieve Filter: mail.bravehost.com
- ManageSieve Port: 4190
- Connection Security: TLS/STARTTLS
- Username: The email address you are checking, e.g. example@somesite.com
- Password: The password for this specific email account.
