Outlook Express

Outlook Express is a mail client that came with Windows XP. It has been replaced by Windows Live Mail in future versions of windows.

Note - these instructions are for Outlook Express (a blue and white icon). If it has a yellow icon, then this is Microsoft Outlook, a mail client that ships with Microsoft Office. Follow the directions on the Microsoft Outlook page

Configuring Outlook Express for your Bravenet Account

  1. Start Outlook Express
  2. Click Tools then Accounts

  3. click Add then Mail

  4. In Display name: Enter your first and last name
  5. Click Next

  6. In E-mail address: Enter your full Bravenet e-mail address
  7. Click Next

  8. Set My Incoming mail server is a IMAP server. Or My Incoming mail server is a POP3 server.
  9. Set Incoming mail server to mail.bravehost.com
  10. Set Outgoing mail server to mail.bravehost.com
  11. Click Next

  12. In the Login user name field, replace the contents with your full Bravenet e-mail address
  13. In the Account name field, replace the contents with your full Bravenet e-mail address
  14. In the Password name field, Enter the password for the Bravenet e-mail address
  15. Click Next, then Finish.
  16. Click on your new account, and then click Properties
  17. Click Servers

  18. Under Outgoing Mail Server, check the My server requires authentication box
  19. Click Advanced

  20. Set the Outgoing Mail(SMTP): port to 465
  21. Under Outgoing Mail, Check the This server requires a Secure Connection (SSL) box
  22. Under Incoming Mail, Check the This server requires a Secure Connection (SSL) box
  1. Click Ok and your account should now work correctly.

You can test your incoming and outgoing mail settings by sending yourself an email.
